Can we please stop the misuse of the term 'right wing'
I am right wing.

I am not in the least bit apologetic about it.

You might even call me 'far right'.

I am right wing because I believe in LIBERTY. I think the machinery of government is generally incompetent, corrupt and not to be trusted. I think government should be kept small, the absolute minimum necessary to keep the country moving.

I am opposed to any form of regulation unless it's absolutely necessary. Regulation intrudes on liberty, whether it's labour tribunals, the minimum wage or the prohibition of recreational drugs. Let people decide for themselves what they want to do - the state should stay out of it.

I would like to see all forms of trade barriers removed. There should be absolutely free trade between all countries.

Like all libertarians I am viscerally opposed to racism. People should be judged by their contribution to society not by their ethnicity or skin colour. I am against all forms of organised religion not out of prejudice but because they do so much damage to society.

SO STOP CALLING TRUMP, LE PEN, THE BNP, JORG HAIDER, GEERT WILDERS, ANDERS BREIVIK AND ALL THE REST 'FAR RIGHT'.

These are nationalists. They have nothing in common - absolutely nothing - with Libertarians. If anything they are socialists. They want to close their borders to trade, prop up failing industries with taxpayers' money, divide society on ethnic lines, put uniformed officers on the street checking ID cards, exercise huge control over the economy....they are anathema to everything Libertarians believe in. To us they are the antichrist.

There isn't a spectrum on which these idiots sit at the far right end and marxists at the other, with everyone else scattered between them.

The correct way to look at it is that there is a spectrum called 'size and scope of the state' which has Le Pen and the rest sitting alongside the Marxists at one end, hardly distinguishable, with us Libertarians right at the other end, as far away as is possible to imagine. We are the polar opposite of these cretins.

We have more to fear from a Trump victory in November than anyone else. It's a defeat for liberty on an unimaginable scale, in the one country where it's never supposed to happen.

So no more lazy labels. Smarten up and get your nomenclature correct.

The funny thing is that if Trump were slightly more Diplomatic he would walk it , but the man is too stupid and too arrogant to understand this.

I did it my way should be his song.

Eh? Blair and Brown were responsible for huge deregulation measures within the finance sector (cheered on by the Tories) which gave them a free licence to fuck up this country.
You crack on talking bollocks though.

That's for another thread.

Suffice to say if public spending had been kept under control between 2000 and 2008 the UK would have sailed through the 2008 crash as most other countries did.

And there was me thinking that the 2008 financial crash was sparked by corporate incompetence in the US mortgage market.

Blair's government was exactly what you would expect from a democratic labour party: massive public spending with no thought for the national debt, a huge increase in regulation, tax hikes across the board and ultimately bankruptcy for the whole country.

I would say his government did what it said on the tin.

To be precise, Hitler's party's full name was

The National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP)

If that's a 'far right' 'party I'm a chinaman.

Re: Can we please stop the misuse of the term 'right wing'
fiddle has described a useful political attitudes scale that rhetoric boiled off runs between "systemic" and "anti-systemic" at either end.

So historical figures like Attlee or Roosevelt might be described as systemic and Genghis Khan and the Punk movement as anti-systemic.

fiddle is a wet anti-systemic because he needs your anti-systemic frustration, resentment and insecurity to get you to like him. And Trump is a wet anti-systemic because once he is elected president, he'll become a systemic lame duck and do exactly what Congress tells him, much to your continued frustration.

Re: Can we please stop the misuse of the term 'right wing'
Trump will be the next US President and he'll win it comfortably.

All the same issues that are playing out in European politics are playing out in the US. Anti-establishment, revolt at Corporate greed, rules for the elite and rules for the man in the street, globalisation...

BREXIT was the first major sign of the people fighting back and regaining their balls and saying enough is enough.

Re: Can we please stop the misuse of the term 'right wing'
It isn't that cholo and Infidel is right.

English Nationalist = Racist Nazi. Scottish Nationalist = Independence campaigner.

Far right = Nazi. Far Left = Loonie liberal.

The biggest misnomer is Nazi = right wing. In fact Nazi was the abbreviation for Hitler's National Socialist Party.

As also pointed out Marine LePen is described as Right Wing or far right when she is the closest thing to a communist that's possible.

People need to look beneath the labels the media gives...

Coffers

I'm not particularly excited by Donald Trump, per se, except for the fact that as POTUS he won't be beholden to anyone.
That would be the first President since Kennedy.

He is also not a member of the Clinton-Bush crime syndicate.

The media is guilty of flagrant misrepresentation of his policies regarding immigration. That is being done because the media is owned by the corporations, and the corporations have chosen Clinton to be the next POTUS.

If Ronald Reagan or George Bush can be President so can Donald Trump, I just cannot understand why anyone would vote for an Idiot who acts like a smug four year old to become President.

Imagine if you will, a terrible awful singer who is tone deaf winning the X Factor that for me is similar to Trump becoming President, only with far more frightening consequences for the World.
